The Festive Flutes, a semi-professional flute choir, are planning concerts and entertainment for the fall season of their 21st year of concertizing. They will perform a concert at Brick Public Library on Thursday, August 16 at 7 p.m. and at Kensington Court in Tinton Falls on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

The six member group, founded and directed by Marjorie Koharski, of Neptune, performs a repertoire of music, including classical arrangements, show tunes, old standards and folk music. They will again feature holiday concerts in December and will offer their annual series of family programs at the public libraries in Monmouth and Ocean Counties during the winter and early spring.

Highlights of the flute choir’s career include an appearance at Drew University for the first annual Flute Choir Festival and a feature performance on News 12 New Jersey. The Festive Flutes, with C flutes, piccolo and alto flute, have a membership of adults and advanced high school students. Current members of the group are Donna DeCotiis and Taylore Fowler, Belmar, Jessica Lecuyer, Toms River, Alexa Russo, Rumson; and Cara Vu, Colts Neck.

Music of the Festive Flutes is available on CDs and can be purchased on the Web site or following a concert. Call 732-922-2273 for more information.
