Free Concerts Offered by Festive Flutes

The Festive Flutes, a semi-professional flute choir, founded and directed by Marjorie Koharski, of Neptune, will present a series of free musical programs open to the public in the next few weeks.
The Festive Flutes are in their 19th year of performing throughout New Jersey and this is their 16th year of presenting annual music programs for young audiences and their families at local libraries.
This year’s program, “Mozart Magic” will feature Mozart’s music celebrating the 250th anniversary of his birth, and will include music from “The Magic Flute”, The Marriage of Figaro,”“Concerto in D,” and other well-know favorites.
The opening program will be performed at the Wall Public Library on Thursday, February 9 at 7 p.m.
More programs in the series are scheduled at Neptune Public Library on Thursday, February 16 at 7 p.m., Holmdel Public Library on Saturday, March 4 at 2 p.m., Marlboro Public Library on Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m., and Point Pleasant Beach Library on Tuesday, March 28 at 7 p.m.
The Festive Flutes, with C flutes, piccolo and alto flute, have a membership of adults and advanced high school students. They perform concerts year-round with programs that feature light classical music, show tunes and “old favorites” They also play for weddings, receptions, holiday parties and at senior residences.
Current members of the group are Caitlin Bogdan and Elizabeth Casper, Neptune; Jacqueline Calcagno and Stacy Daily, Hazlet; and Megan Natoli, Freehold.
Upcoming concerts at senior residences are planned for Liberty Manor in Englishtown and Chelsea at East Brunswick. For more information or to schedule a program, call 732-922-2273.
